Abstrak

Para sarjana naratif modern, seperti Ninian Smart, Paul G. Hiebert, Charles Taylor, James W. Sire, dan James K.A. Smith, menegaskan sentralitas narasi dalam pembentukan identitas dan spiritualitas individu dan masyarakat. Kekuatan narasi hadir dalam dimensi imajinal, yang dimanifestasikan dalam kisah-kisah mitos. Para sarjana di atas mengacu pada pendekatan sosiologis/antropologis, yang sederhananya berorientasi pada disiplin ilmu humaniora. Dengan tetap mengapresiasi studi-studi tersebut, artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi diskursif di sekitar subjek bahasan—kontribusi yang mempertimbangkan diskursus naratif dan mitos dari perspektif studi biblis, mengingat pentingnya memahami manusia sebagai makhluk yang kompleks dan utuh. Penulis berpegang pada sentralitas teks Kitab Suci untuk menuntun kehidupan dan iman umat Allah karena teks berisi narasi Allah: sebagai fondasi, memori, dan kerangka kerja mitis mereka. Menggunakan konsep “imajinasi profetik” Walter Brueggemann, artikel ini mengajukan metafora kitab suci sebagai sebuah model dalam menghadapi realitas kehidupan kontemporer yang dikelilingi oleh kontestasi-kontestasi naratif.

Nathaniel Hendradi adalah mahasiswa program studi Magister Teologi dengan konsentrasi Teologi – Biblika Perjanjian Lama di STT SAAT yang memiliki minat studi di bidang teologi kontekstual, misiologi, dan antropologi. Saat ini, Nathaniel sedang menjadi mahasiswa praktik dan melayani di lembaga OMF.
